FEATURED BUCKS COUNTY ARTISTS

While best known for the Pennsylvania Impressionist movement and the New Hope Art Colony formed around the turn of the 20th Century, Bucks County continues to be a thriving arts community engaged across a broad array of media. Among the contemporary artists living and working in the area, our projects often feature the work of abstract artists, some of our favorites are highlighted below:

ALAN GOLDSTEIN

Alan’s solo exhibition at the Michener Art Museum in 2023 beautifully showcased decades of the artist’s abstract work and range across large scale paintings, drawings and sculpture. While many of his inspirations are drawn from rural Bucks County and the Delaware River, the colorful abstractions also reflect his visceral response to the many challenges and hardships of the global human condition. He invites the viewer to arrive at their own interpretation of his work without the distraction of his input --- a treat for anyone fortunate enough to experience it.

JENNY SCHAEFFER

Jenny describes herself as a landscape painter as she is primarily inspired by nature and the beauty of the great outdoors. From traditional landscapes to Plein Air or even wild abstracts, Jenny strives to capture the energies of the natural world around her. Using a wide range of materials and substrates, she continues to push the boundaries
of her artistic range. Her mixed media piece “Of Earth & Stone” recently won an award at the 95th Annual Juried Art Show at Phillips Mill.

CHUCK FISCHER

Chuck Fischer’s geometric abstract constructions, or Tableaux Reliefs, break the plane of two-dimensional surfaces that have been intricately hand cut, bringing the surface behind the work into the conversation with the work itself. He creates visual complexity by varying the depth, color & texture of each piece to draw the viewer inside the work. He never sketches before starting a new piece but trusts his intuition and the materials at hand to guide him as he creates works of spatial balance and harmony.

GABRIEL FRANKLIN

Using a handcrafted pressing technique, Gabe preserves the intricate detail of freshly picked wildflowers into clay and plaster castings. These custom floral panels are featured as treasured heirloom wall hangings or as interior focal points within the architectural details of the home. Gabe’s talents extend to custom commissions of plaster art installations for clients seeking one-of-a-kind decorative interiors.
